Francis Currie
Francis Currie is the current holder of the UK’s prestigious Sony Award for Station Programmer of the Year, and has been described as ‘one of the best programmers in Europe’.
Until recently he was the Group Programme Director of Heart in the UK, where he devised and led the Programming strategy for each of the stations in the network to become Number One in their respective markets.
Prior to this Francis was Programme Director of Heart in London, one of the most competitive radio markets in Europe. There he rebuilt the station’s output, and launched a new Breakfast Show. Under his leadership Heart broke Capital Radio’s thirty year stranglehold on the London market, becoming market-leader in reach, share and during the Breakfast Show.
Other programming successes in Francis’ career include the effective re-branding of Melody to Magic in London, and in television as Programme Director of the Box, beating MTV and VH-1 to make the Box the Number One rating music TV channel in the UK.
