John Hirst
John Hirst directs Creation, the wholly owned production company from Britain’s largest commercial radio company, GCap Media.
He started his career in local radio working as a producer at Kent’s Invicta Radio.
In 1997, John and business partners launched their own radio station in Kent called Medway FM. John launched the sales and marketing team and became Managing Director in 2000.
John joined GCap in 2002 to conduct a review of the local news operations and was tasked with producing a blueprint of future of local news. In late 2002, John launched the Creation division of GCap to address business development and new ideas.
Creation now produces content for retailers, airlines, the BBC and operates the UK’s only dedicated radio station for children - FUN radio. Creation produces podcasts for all GCap brands and commercial customers. Following a successful trial in 2005, all GCap radio brands have launched podcast channels and many commercial customers are now enjoying this new way of communicating with consumers.
